About Lynne
My artistic journey in pottery began after my retirement from dentistry in 2018. It was a natural progression into a new creative chapter. I immersed myself in learning the craft, joining a local clay club, and dedicated countless hours to online courses. This hands-on experience, combined with training, allowed me to develop my unique artistic voice. I love weaving together my passion for storytelling, history, and art into every piece I create.
My creative process
My interest in pottery was first sparked by the fascinating process of transforming a simple block of clay into a unique piece of art. This magical transformation, crafted purely by hand, captivated me from the start. In my early years of learning, I explored various techniques, but I consistently returned to creating textured pieces, complemented by beautiful, flowing, or bright color glazes. Developing the multi-step process that now defines each of my creations has taken years of dedicated practice. I meticulously learned about different clay types, mastering various building techniques, template development, and specific glazing applications. This journey, fueled by time, practice, and unwavering passion, allows me to confidently produce the art you see today.

Faial Collection
Among my favorite and most popular works is the recent Faial Collection, born from my stay in Faial, Portugal. This collection is divided into four distinct bodies of work. Azul, Qunita, Barros, and Limpet. While on Faial, I immersed myself in the art of the Faial lacemakers, incorporating their exquisite lace patterns into my plates, platters, and bowls.
Azul Collection
The Azul Collection features striking black and blue pieces, representing the black volcanco basalt rock and the iconic blue hygrangeas of the island.
Barros Collection
The Barros Collection pieces showcases warm terra-cotta tones alongside shades of blue and green.
Qunita Collection
The Quinta Collection bursts with bright, vibrant colors, mirroring the beautiful flowers found at the farm where I resided in Faial.
Limpet Collection
Limpet Collection
The Limpet Collection is inspirated from the Azorean cuisine served on the Island of Faial.
